Reframe Collective
We are a collective of organisers, artists and photographers who have come together to showcase acts of protest, and ‘resistance’ more broadly, in public spaces including community spaces in London and Glastonbury and Shambala Festivals.
The last four years have seen significant uprisings including the Black Lives Matter movement, Stop HS2, mass workers strikes, and of course most recently, Palestine Solidarity, amongst many other movements. In response, our communities have seen significant increases in state repression in the form of police violence, increasingly draconian laws, the imprisonment of protestors and the rise of the far-right.
Despite this, movements continue to evolve – through direct action, creative defiance, subversive cultures and displays of solidarity. By showcasing acts of resistance – both big and small – we hope to empower more people to engage with organising and drive the change our society desperately needs.
We intentionally work with a growing network of ACTive Photographers, all of whom are of marginalised identities and have faced various barriers within the photojournalist and documentary industry, that to this day remains majority white, middle classed, male cis-gendered. Our photographers also all have varying levels of involvement and rootedness in the spaces and communities that they document. Using the tool of photography to uplift the broad range of movements and campaigns on display here.
